Stanford Leads Pac-10 Championships After Day Two

FEDERAL WAY, Wash.-- Stanford is in first place after the first full day of swimming at the Pac-10 Championships, leading the pack with 550.5 points, ahead of Cal (528) and USC (453.5) as the Cardinal look to defend its Pac-10 title.

Stanford closed out the second day in Washington with its first title, winning the 200 free relay for the second-straight year with a time of 1:28.54. Stanford also had three A Final finishers in the 500 and 50 freestyles and the 200 individual medley.

Kate Dwelley touched the wall first ahead of Cal's Liv Jensen, after Jensen beat Dwelley in the 50 free finals.

Dwelley was a runner-up to Jensen's time of 21.73. Dwelley finished with a mark of 22.04, followed by teammate Sam Wood ward's time of 22.31 for a 2-3 finish. Betsy Webb was sixth 22.41. Andi Murez won the B Finals with a time of 22.69.

Maya DiRado was the top finisher of three Cardinal in the 200 IM, finishing third with a time of 1:55.11. Liz Smith tied for fifth at 1:57.85, while Felicia Lee was seventh at 1:59.5

Freshman Andie Taylor and Kelsey Ditto finished third and fourth in the first individual event of the championships, the 500 free, swimming 4:40.82 and 4:41.09 respectively.

Stanford also placed two divers in the A Finals of the one-meter with Meg Hostage finishing third (323.80) and Kylie Rosenstock finishing fifth at 291.10.

In the men's three-meter finals, whose points will count at next week's men's championships, Stanford place three divers in the A Finals. Brent Eichenseer was fifth (361.90), while Taylor Sishc (357.50) and Dhruv Tyagi (322.95) rounded out the top-eight.

The Pac-10 Championships run through Saturday night.
