DASH

What is DASH?

What is DASH?

A nod to the hyphen, DASH is the connection between student and athlete, signifying the development that takes place between these intersectional identities.

The Stanford Athletics DASH team includes professional advisors specializing in Academic Advising and Student-Athlete Development.

HOW WE HELP

Academic Advising

Academic Advising

Academic Advisors (or Undergraduate Advising Directors - UADs) are the initial contact for student-athletes’ short and long-term academic counseling. UADs for Student-Athletes specialize in:

  • Helping student-athletes choose classes and understand the workload of different enrollment options
  • Aid student-athletes in scheduling classes around practice and game schedules
  • Provide assistance should conflicts arise with exams and competition
  • Advise course selection in the context of NCAA progress-toward-degree regulations
  • Help student-athletes choose majors that are consistent with their interests and goals and help ensure that they fulfill requirements and are on course to graduate in four years
  • Offer guidance about graduate and professional school opportunities
Student-Athlete Development

Student-Athlete Development

Student-Athlete Development is a team of professional advisors in DASH who provide support in finding yourself and your community both in and out of sport. Student-Athlete Development advisors specialize in holistic advising that includes:

  • Assist student-athletes in finding connection and building community
  • Aid in intersectional identity development as a “student” and “athlete” and beyond
  • Career exploration based on interest areas, talent, and connections
  • Peer leadership opportunities through student-athlete engagement groups
  • Personal and professional development opportunities with on and off-campus partners
  • Signature program offerings for all student-athletes throughout their Stanford experience
