Woo Jeon is in his first season as assistant coach for the Cardinal men's soccer program after joining the staff in January 2025.
Jeon arrived on The Farm after a two-year tenure with the Cal Poly men’s soccer program, most recently serving as associate head coach in 2024. During his time in San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly made two Big West Championship appearances and earned the program’s first Big West regular season title in 2024.
Primarily working with the defenders, Jeon guided the Mustangs to the nation's second-best goals-against average (0.676) and the fewest goals conceded in program history (13) in 2024. Under Jeon’s guidance, the Mustangs had six All-Big West honorees in each of the last two seasons, including 2024 Big West Defender of the Year Parker Owens.
Before Cal Poly, Jeon spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Division II MSU Denver where he helped lead the Roadrunners to a 10-win season in 2022, the program’s highest win total since 2016. Jeon’s first season on staff in 2021 saw MSU Denver return to the RMAC tournament after a three-year hiatus.
Jeon’s coaching career began with Black Rock FC Residential Academy (Lake Placid, N.Y.), where he served as an associate head coach for three years. Jeon led his age-group side to a No. 2 national ranking in TopDrawerSoccer’s prep high school poll in 2019 and guided Black Rock FC’s USL League Two squad to the 2019/20 IMG Cup U-20 championship.
Before transitioning into coaching, Jeon played four seasons at Division III Kenyon College (Gambler, Ohio) where he helped the Lords reach back-to-back NCAA Division III quarterfinal appearances (2015-16) and four total NCAA tournament berths. Making 53 starts in 86 career appearances, Jeon finished his playing career with 21 goals and 18 assists, leading Kenyon to a 73-10-6 overall mark and 32-3-1 record in the North Coast Athletic Conference.
"Woo brings a wealth of knowledge to our program, having great success in his formative years as a coach," Gunn said "His bright mind and deep analytical personality will bring valuable insight and energy to our program"
A native of Madison, Wisc., Jeon graduated from Kenyon in 2018 with a degree in neuroscience.
