Thomas Gesser coaches the throws and serves as the sports performance coach for the entire track and field/cross country teams. Having been at Stanford since 2018, Gesser has helped many student-athletes accomplish their athletic goals, including Pac-12 Conference champions, NCAA All-Americans, and NCAA national champions across all event areas.
Before arriving to Stanford, Gesser was a teaching assistant at Cal State Northridge where he taught biomechanics and strength training courses while earning his master’s degree in biomechanics and serving as an assistant track and field coach at Moorpark College.
Gesser earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Cal State Stanislaus where he was also an All-American and CCAA champion in the hammer throw.
Gesser is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as a Level 2 certified sports performance coach with USA Weightlifting.
