Austin Sparks is in his second season as Assistant Director of Football Sports Performance at Stanford in 2024. He comes to The Farm after coaching at Sacramento State since 2019 with Kissick Family Director of Football Sports Performance Ryan Deatrick.
Sparks was most recently an Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning at Sacramento State, where he worked with football and served as the head strength and conditioning coach for men’s basketball and track and field. With the football program, Sparks was responsible for developing programming for speed and agility across the whole team, as well as training the defensive backs.
From Dec. 2019 until his promotion in early 2022, Sparks was an assistant strength and conditioning coach. In addition to football, men’s basketball and track and field, Sparks also coached the men’s soccer and gymnastics programs.
A 2018 graduate of South Dakota with a degree in kinesiology and sport management, Sparks was a four-year member of the men’s basketball program. He is NSCA-CSCS, USAW Level I, CPR & AED certified.
