LaShannda Worthy has served as Director of Operations for the Stanford track and cross country programs since the summer of 2019. Among her roles are meet director, travel coordinator, budget manager, and summer camp coordinator.
Before she came to Stanford, Worthy worked in track and field operations at University of San Francisco and University of Michigan. She was the Director of Operations at USF during the 2018-19 academic year. At Michigan, she was the Assistant Director of Operations during the 2017-18 academic year after serving as an intern for athletic department administration the previous two years.
Worthy has worked professionally in college athletics since 2013, with internships at University of California-Berkeley and Academy of Art. She went on to serve as Assistant to the Director of Athletics at Wisconsin-Stout, where she created and implemented the first Women In Leadership Development group for female student-athletes, earning an NCAA Diversity Spotlight award.
Worthy earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology at Louisiana Tech in 2010 and a master’s in sports management from Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2016.
A captain on the track and field team at Louisiana Tech, Worthy was an NCAA Championships finalist in the 4x400, with Tech placing ninth in the 2009 Outdoor Championships. She continues to appear in Louisiana Tech’s all-time top-10 lists in the 4x100 and 4x400.
A five-time All-Western Athletic Conference selection in the 400 and 4x400 relay, Worthy won WAC outdoor titles in the 4x100 (2009) and 4x400 (2010).
At City College of San Francisco, Worthy was second in the state in the 400 in 2008 and captured the Northern California 400 title in 2007. Her 4x400 team still holds the school record.
A native of Daly City, California, Worthy attended Jefferson High School and won the 2005 Peninsula Athletic League 100 and 200 championships, advancing to the state meet in the 100.
