STANFORD, Calif. – Having claimed its first Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season and tournament titles, Stanford placed five players on the 2025 United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region teams.
Seniors Jasmine Aikey and Elise Evans earned spots on the first team, while sophomore Charlotte Kohler and redshirt-senior Andrea Kitahata landed on the second team. Freshman goalkeeper Caroline Birkel was named to the third team.
Aikey and Evans are All-Region selections for the fourth time. The duo was named to the fourth team a year ago after previously being named All-Pacific Region first team in each of their first two seasons at Stanford. Kitahata, Kohler and Birkel were all selected for the first time in their careers.
Aikey has been named All-ACC first team, ACC Championship MVP and ACC All-Tournament, and is a finalist for TopDrawerSoccer Player of the Year and a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist. The native of Palo Alto, Calif. has been named ACC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season, has a goal in 15 of the 23 contests this year, and has contributed at least a point in 19 of the 23 matches. Aikey owns five multi-goal matches this season, including posting a brace in two of Stanford’s four NCAA Tournament matches entering the College Cup. Aikey leads the team in total points with 51, including a team-high 20 goals (six game-winners) and 11 assists. The 20 goals, fourth-most nationally this season, rank tied for fifth in a single season in program history, while her 51 points are fifth in Stanford history and one short of the national leader this season. Aikey has contributed 42 career goals to rank tied for ninth in Stanford history, while her 113 points rank 10th. Showing a knack for scoring in big games, Aikey owns 11 postseason goals to rank third in Stanford history, while her nine postseason assists rank second only to Catarina Macario’s 14 from 2017-19.
Evans has been named a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, ACC Defensive Player of the Year, All-ACC first team and ACC All-Tournament. A team captain and the team leader in minutes played with 1,976 at center back, Evans has accumulated seven goals, including two game-winners, and six assists for 20 points. She recorded her first career multi-goal match on November 21 vs. Alabama in the NCAA Tournament second round, and managed a pair of assists in Stanford’s 7-0 victory vs. San Francisco to open the season. Evans has been named ACC Defensive Player of the Week and has helped the Cardinal limit opponents to 23 goals (1.00 per game) on 186 total shots - including just 75 on frame. Stanford has managed eight shutouts this year with Evans directing the back line.
Kitahata was named All-ACC first team and was selected ACC Offensive Player of the Week on October 21. The native of Hillsborough, Calif. contributed at least one point in each of the first six matches this season and has a point in 19 of the 23 matches this year. Kitahata has put together two different strings of four straight matches with a goal this year, and has a goal in 12 of the last 18 overall entering the College Cup. Second on the team in points with 44 (17 goals and 10 assists), Kitahata scored a brace in consecutive matches at Miami (October 19) and vs. SMU (October 25), and added one vs. No. 9 Michigan State (November 28), to run her career multi-goal games total to five.
Turning in a spectacular sophomore season, Kohler was named All-ACC second team. She has managed at least a point in 19 of the 23 matches this season, including each of the last 13, and has contributed five game-winners - including the game-winner to defeat No. 1 Virginia and No. 7 Florida State. Kohler converted the clinching PK in Stanford's 5-4 shootout victory over No. 2 Notre Dame to win the ACC Tournament title on November 9. The national leader in assists with 17, Kohler has managed three assists in a match twice this year. The native of Woodside, Calif. ranks third on the team in points with 41 (12 goals and 17 assists).
Birkel was named ACC Goalkeeper of the Year, All-ACC first team and All-ACC Freshman team. The freshman has started every match in goal this year - becoming the first Stanford true freshman to start in goal since Jane Campbell started 18 matches in 2013. The native of St. Louis, Mo. has logged 1,773 minutes in goal - the most for a Cardinal freshman in program history. Having surrendered just 19 goals this season, she owns a 0.96 goals against average and has registered 43 saves while posting two shutouts and combining on six more.
Stanford, preparing to make its 13th appearance in the College Cup, including its third in as many seasons, will continue its pursuit of a fourth national title when it meets No. 2 seed and 11th-ranked Duke on Friday at 5:45 p.m. PT in a semifinal match from the 2025 NCAA Women's College Cup in Kansas City, Mo.
