No. 3 Cardinal heads to LA for key MPSF weekend slate

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 3 Cardinal continues a run of competition against the top teams in the country, heading to southern California to take on No. 2 UCLA on Saturday and No. 1 USC on Sunday in a key MPSF weekend.

Stanford enters at 12-4 (1-2) this season, riding a four-game winning streak agains top-10 opponents. Last weekend the Card dominated No. 5 Fordham 19-10 in a neutral-site game at Santa Clara.

Both games will start at 1:00 p.m. PT, and will be streamed on Overnght. 


VET IN THE CAGE » Temkin returns in the cage after a Second Team All-America and First Team All-MPSF season in 2024. The senior stopped a season-high 16 shots in the overtime loss to USC last month, and boasts 135 saves in 16 games this season.

NO SOPHOMORE SLUMP » The sophomore class has been key to the Cardinal's success in 2025, accounting for three of the top four point contributors on the team. Botond Balogh has been dominant to start the season, leading the team in points (80), goals (50) and assists (30). Fellow sophomore Ben Forer is not far behind in all three categories, with 71 points on 43 goals and 28 assists.

MPSF HONORS » Will Schneider became the third-straight Cardinal player to earn MPSF Player of the Week honors, joining Ben Forer and Botond Balogh as Stanford players to pick up the honors this season.

STRONG INTRODUCTION » Transfer Gianpiero Di Martire has made a strong first impression, third on the team in points (62), goals (40) and assists (22).

SUMMER ABROAD » Ohl and junior Alex Gheorghe each competed at the World Aquatics World Championships in Croatia this summer. Ohl represented the US, while Gheorghe competed for Romania.
