STANFORD, Calif. – Middle blocker Erika Sayer has been voted the ACC Freshman of the Week for a second straight time, the conference announced today.
Sayer averaged 2.90 kills on .449 hitting, 1.20 blocks and 3.50 points per set in wins over Hawaii (3-0), Texas State (3-0) and UCLA (3-1).
The Colorado Springs native had nine kills and a team-high four blocks in the sweep over Hawaii. Against Texas State, she hit a career-high .700 with seven kills on 10 errorless swings and three blocks. She registered a match-high 13 kills on .611 hitting and a team-best five blocks as Stanford defeated UCLA for a fifth consecutive time.
The Cardinal has won 19 straight home matches dating back to last season, dropping just four sets during that streak.
No. 3 Stanford opens ACC play on the road this weekend, traveling to Virginia on Saturday and Virginia Tech on Sunday.
