GREENSBORO, N.C. —The final round of stroke play at the 2025 ACC Championship took place on Thursday afternoon at Sedgefield Country Club. More Stanford magic took place, as it seemingly has all season long. The Cardinal held onto the top spot as a team, earning the top seed and a first-round bye in match play, but freshman Andrea Revuelta was able to survive a battle atop the leaderboard to become the individual ACC champion.
Stanford made its mark on the ACC record book during the stroke play portion of the tournament, tying the ACC record with a team score of 837 (-27). The record was previously set by Virginia in 2015, when there was no match play portion of the tournament. No. 3 Florida State was the next closest team, finishing at 12-under. Stanford’s 12-under in the final round was the lowest round of the entire tournament.
After posting a pair of 67s on Wednesday in stroke play, Revuelta came back with a 4-under 68 in the final round, finishing with a 202 across three rounds. It ties the ACC Championship scoring record with Amanda Sambach of Virginia from 2023, who Revuelta was paired with in the final round on Wednesday. She took control on the back nine, with birdies on 14 and 15 to take a three-stroke lead with three holes to play. The round ended on 18, and as she did during both of the first rounds, she eagled to close out at 14-under for the week. It is tied for the eighth-best round in program history.
Revuelta joins an elite list of Cardinal who have won conference championships: Mhairi McKay, Rachel Heck, and most recently, Rose Zhang. She joins Heck as the only freshmen to win an individual conference championship and becomes the first Cardinal to score her first career win in a conference championship.
Vaulting her way into the top-10 was fellow freshman Meja Örtengren, who used her best round of stroke play to finish with a 5-under 67, ending with a 215 (-1) overall. She played a clean round on Wednesday, starting off with three birdies on the front nine before closing out the round with her fifth birdie of the day on 18. It marked the first under-par round of the tournament for Örtengren, who moved up 22 spots on the leaderboard.
Megha Ganne and Paula Martín Sampedro both finished in a tie for 11th overall. Ganne climbed up to make a run at a top-10 finish, with a 3-under 69 for her best round of the week. Martín Sampedro struggled during most of her round, but eagled on 18 like her fellow Spaniard would do just moments later to salvage a 78. Both golfers finished at 217, just one stroke over par across three rounds.
While not finishing under par in the final round, it was still an impressive finish for Kelly Xu, who overcame a 79 in the first round to finish with rounds of 69 and 72, going 3-under par over her final 36 holes. Much like her teammates, she climbed up the board on Thursday to finish just inside the top-20 in a tie for 19th, meaning Stanford was the only team in the field with five golfers inside the top-20.
By virtue of being first after three rounds of stroke play, Stanford has now automatically advanced into the semifinals of match play, facing the winner of either No. 9 Wake Forest or No. 12 North Carolina. The semifinals will be televised on ACCNX, expected to begin at 10:30 am PT.
