Stanford Outlasts USC

Snoey and Wagner combine for 50 kills

LOS ANGELES – Led by Theo Snoey and Moses Wagner, No. 13 Stanford knocked off No. 3 USC, 25-27, 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 15-13, Friday, in the Galen Center.

The Cardinal (10-12, 3-6 MPSF) picked up its first five-set win of the season and won its fourth straight over the Trojans (19-4, 7-2 MPSF).

Snoey and Wagner each registered a career-high 25 kills to lead the team. Wagner’s kills came on .465 hitting to go with eight digs, four blocks. Snoey hit .333 and tallied three digs, two blocks and two assists.



As a team, Stanford hit .360 while holding USC to a .280 clip. The Cardinal recorded a season-high 73 kills, 44 digs, 6.5 blocks and four aces.



Setter Theoren Brouillette controlled the offense, matching his career-high with 57 assists. The junior turned in his second double-double of the year with 11 digs.

Freshman libero Evan Porter collected a career-high 17 digs – his third double-digit dig performance of the season. His 17 digs are the most in a match by an MPSF player this season.

Sophomore Nate Clinton finished with 11 kills on a .304 attack percentage, three digs, two aces, two assists and a block. Freshman middle blocker Reed Wainwright chipped in with five kills on .500 hitting, two blocks and an ace.

Junior Ryan DuRoss came off the bench as a serving sub in all five sets, posting an ace and a dig.



USC was led by Christian Connell, who notched 14 kills and eight digs. Outside hitter Dillon Klein added 12 kills but was held to .182 hitting.

The Cardinal and Trojans meet again on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Galen Center.
