BOTH STANFORD BOATS earned accolades from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for their performances last week at the season-opening Redwood Shores Invitational.
The Cardinal 1V8+ was named MPSF Varsity Eight Boat of the Week. And the Stanford 2V8+ was named MPSF Crew of the Week.
Both boats went undefeated in four races over the three-day regatta. Each beat Drexel, Oregon State, and Santa Clara. Stanford also beat San Diego in the 1V8 and UC San Diego in the 2V8.
In perfect conditions Friday, Stanford 1V8 beat Drexel in 5:35.1, which is believed to be a Stanford record on their home course of Belmont Channel/Redwood Shores Lagoon. And the Cardinal 2V8 beat the Dragons in 5:43.5, which is Stanford’s fastest for a 2V8 in more than a decade.
Those on the Stanford 1V8 over the weekend were (in alphabetical order): Kannan Alford, Fleur Blasé, Tom Corbett, Elliott Donovan-Davies, James Fetter, Gabriel George, James Pullinger, Adrien Richez, Max Shakespeare, Luke Smith, and Philip Wolfensberger.
Those on the Cardinal 2V8 were Schuyler Audley-Williams, Callen Berwick, Maxim Ericson, Wilder Fulford, Leopold Hainlein, Hylton Harvey, Andrew Orio, Pullinger, Sandro Scalfi, Arthur Scott, Charlie Vachris, Wolfensberger, and Gabrielle Zammit.
