STANFORD, Calif. — With a nine point outing across two games last week, sophomore Ava Arceri has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Arceri picks up her first collegiate conference honor while garnering Stanford’s second-consecutive conference nod.
Arceri was instrumental in securing a 2-0 weekend for the No. 8 Cardinal across a two-game home stand last week. The St. James, N.Y., native fired off a four point outing in the ACC home opener against Pitt, securing a 3-1-4 line while grabbing a team-leading five draw controls as the Cardinal secured a 16-12 win. On Saturday, Arceri’s fourth goal - and fifth point of the afternoon - was enough to stand as the eventual game winner as the Cardinal staved off Villanova for a 14-13 win.
Arceri currently sits second on the team with 16 goals and has already surpassed her goal total from last year four-fold as the sophomore sits ninth in the conference in that regard. She has also recorded three hat tricks this season with all of them coming in the last four games. She also ranks third on the Cardinal in draw controls with 17 this season after securing seven last week.
The No. 7/6 Cardinal is back in action this weekend, hitting the road to western New York for a two-game slate against No. 11/10 Syracuse and Cornell. Opening draw against the Orange is slated for 2 p.m. PT on Friday March 7 while Sunday’s game against the Big Red is scheduled for 9 a.m. PT.
