FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- Stanford competes in the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday through Saturday at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
Stanford has won eight NCAA team championships, the most recent in 1998. The Cardinal, which finished eighth the past two years, comes into the meet ranked No. 8.
The Cardinal features 15 individuals representing 38 entries, and five relay teams. Cardinal relays are the 200-yard medley relay, 800 freestyle relay, 200 free relay, 400 medley relay, and 400 free relay.
Andrei Minakov was the 2022 NCAA champion in the 100 butterfly and competes again in that event, plus the 200 fly. Minakov is a 19-time All-American and was a 2021 Olympian for the Russian Olympic Committee. He placed fourth in the 100-meter butterfly in Tokyo.
Jack Ryan was third in the 1-meter springboard diving in 2023 and fourth last year. He also was third in 3-meter diving last year and is Stanford’s highest placing returnee from 2024 in Indianapolis.
Ron Polonsky is a 17-time All-American. He has a best individual NCAA finish of fifth, in the 2023 200 individual medley. Polonsky is a two-time Israeli Olympian, who reached the semifinals of the 200-meter IM in Paris in 2024, placing 12th.
Misha Andriyuk and Daniel Li hold the distinction of advancing to the NCAA's as true freshmen. Andriyuk was the ACC runner-up in platform diving and competes on the platform and at 1-meter. Li swims the 100 breaststroke and 200 breast.
This year, Stanford competed in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships for the first time and took home four individual titles: Minakov in the 100 fly and 200 fly, Ryan in 1-meter diving, and Henry McFadden in the 200 free. Stanford placed second as a team.
Stanford has won 148 NCAA individual or relay titles. Last year, the Cardinal had 10 different individuals earn All-America honors, with nine earning first-team honors.
