No. 14 Stanford women's gymnastics won its first conference title since 2008, the school's first ACC team title

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Stanford women’s gymnastics brought home the university’s first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) title Saturday evening, posting a season-high score of 197.775.

The Cardinal won the event with the best team score of the conference championship meet's history, followed by California (197.625), North Carolina (197.225), and N.C. State (196.500).

The ACC title win by Stanford came off the program's tied-for-sixth best team total, guided by its second-best bars rotation in the school's history and the tied-for-eighth best floor score in the Cardinal's record book.

Stanford earned one sole apparatus title and shares of all other event titles on its way to its conference title, its first team conference championship since the 2008 season. Junior Taralyn Nguyen earned sole ownership of the vault title with a career-best 9.975, freshman Ui Soma won a share of the bars title with a perfect 10.000, sophomore Temple Landry won a share of the beam event crown with a 9.900, and junior Anna Roberts secured a share of the floor’s top honor with a career-best matching 9.950. Roberts also brought home a share of the all-around title, scoring a 39.625 to tie with California’s Mya Lauzon. Nguyen, Roberts, Soma, senior Anapaula Gutierrez, Landry, junior Claire Dean, freshman Alana Walker and sophomore Sienna Robinson were all named to the All-Championship Team for their incredible performances in Greensboro.

Stanford's five individual titles mark just the second time in program history that the Cardinal has swept all apparatus and all-around event crowns (last done in 1984). The team's performance is one of only two conference championship individual event title sweeps of the 2025 season (Utah accomplished the same feat in the 2025 Big 12 Championship).

The Cardinal started its first-ever ACC Championship off with a bang, marking its second-best bars rotation in program history and its top rotation on the apparatus since 1999 with a score of 49.650. Soma’s perfect 10.000 was just one shining moment of a stellar rotation, as  Gutierrez set a new career-best in the first routine of the second session of the championship meet, posting a 9.950 in the leadoff spot. Robinson followed with a 9.875, while senior Brenna Neault posted a 9.900 in the third spot. Roberts set up Soma’s incredible routine with a 9.925 in the fifth spot.

Stanford then took to the beam, totaling a 49.175 led by a 9.900 from Landry. Dean led off with a 9.850, followed by a 9.775 from junior Ashley Carter and a 9.800 from Roberts. Neault posted a 9.850 as the final scoring routine of the rotation.

The Cardinal were down .100 halfway through the meet.

It was then onto floor, where Stanford followed its bars rotation’s lead with a season-best 49.575 led by a 9.950 from Roberts. The Cardinal did not count a score below 9.900, as Dean started the rotation off strong with a 9.900, her second consecutive score of 9.900 on the event, followed by a 9.900 from Robinson. A 9.925 from Nguyen set up Roberts’ 9.950, and a new collegiate-best 9.900 from freshman Alana Walker finished the rotation on a high note.

Stanford took a .250 lead into the final rotation.

The Cardinal secured its ACC Team Championship on vault, led by vault champion Nguyen’s 9.975. Roberts placed second with a 9.950, while Gutierrez posted a 9.850 and Neault and freshman Kendra Chang earned scores of 9.800.

Stanford now awaits its placement in the NCAA Regional Championship, announced by ESPN on Monday at 9 a.m. PT. on ESPN+/ESPNU.
