PHILADELPHIA - Tyler Knox and Hunter Garvin both secured All-America honors on the second day of the NCAA Championships at the Wells Fargo Center.
It is the fifth time in the past six seasons Stanford has produced multiple All-Americans in the same season and the 11th time overall.
Garvin became the seventh wrestler in program history to earn multiple NCAA All-America honors, while Knox is just the fourth freshman to achieve the status.
Garvin dropped his quarterfinal match to No. 2 seed Peyton Hall of West Virginia, 6-5, before defeating No. 5 seed Julian Ramirez of Cornell in the Round of 12 with a 16-12 decision. The redshirt sophomore then posted a 4-0 decision over No. 9 seed Cam Steed of Missouri to advance to the consolation semifinals on Saturday.
Knox wrestled back through the consolation bracket to meet No. 7 seed Nic Bouzakis of Ohio State in the Round of 12. The redshirt freshman shut out Bouzakis, 5-0, avenging a loss from earlier in the season. Knox gave up just one point on Friday, falling 1-0 to No. 6 seed Connor McGonagle of Virginia Tech to drop into the seventh-place match on Saturday.
Finishing the tournament with 1-2 records were Jason Miranda (141), Jaden Abas (149), Lorenzo Norman (174), Nick Stemmet (197) and Peter Ming (285).
Stemmet's career ends with a 101-48 record, moving him into a tie for 10th all-time in program history in career wins with Scott Wiggin (1982-87). Abas was a 2021 NCAA All-American and finished his career with a 96-42 overall record.
The medal round is set for 8 a.m. PT on Saturday on ESPNU.
