Men’s Tennis Pushes Win Streak to Five

Cardinal blanks Virginia Tech to open road trip

BLACKSBURG, Va. – No. 8 Stanford men’s tennis picked up a road victory in ACC play, downing No. 63 Virginia Tech, 4-0, at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. Earning its fifth consecutive victory, the Cardinal improves to 13-4 this season and 5-2 in the ACC.

Stanford rallied to win doubles, showing its resiliency to take a 1-0 lead. Harsh Hemang Parikh and Alex Razeghi opened with a 6-2 win on court three, while the duo of Kyle Kang and Henry von der Schulenburg rallied from a 5-1 deficit, saving four match points in the process, to win on court two, 7-6 (2).

The Cardinal asserted its will in singles play, winning all six first sets. Kyle Kang doubled the program’s lead to 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-3 win on court two, while Max Basing made it 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the top position. Clinching his third match of the season, Alex Razeghi scored the winning point on court four, 6-4, 6-4.

Stanford continues its road trip on Sunday, March 23 at No. 6 Virginia. The first serves are set for noon PT.
