Stanford collects three major conference awards following fourth-consecutive title

STANFORD, Calif. — Having won its fourth-consecutive MPSF Artistic Swimming title over the weekend, Stanford swept the major all-conference postseason honors as announced by the MPSF on Monday, taking home Rookie and Swimmer of the Meet as well as Coach of the Meet kudos.

Freshman Megumi Field was tabbed the Rookie and Swimmer of the Meet for her four event wins over the weekend, tallying an MPSF record 74 individual points toward Stanford’s team total of 102. The Delaware native took home event wins in Tech A before grabbing combined titles in the duet, trio and team events. Field’s honor is the fourth in a row for Stanford as the Cardinal has won the conference’s top postseason honor every year since 2022.

Head coach Megan Abarca was tabbed the conference Coach of the Meet after leading the Cardinal to its fourth-straight title. Stanford’s total of 102 team points and +15 margin of victory tied the previous record set by the Cardinal in the inaugural MPSF Championships in 2022. Abarca has won the Coach of the Meet in each of the last four years and remains the only coach to earn the accolade.

Stanford also led the way in All-Conference Selection, placing a conference-high three artistic swimmers on the All-MPSF First Team. In addition to Field, fellow freshmen Dalia Ovadia and Calista Liu were tabbed to the list. Ovadia teamed up with Field in both the duet and trio, finishing in first place in both en route to 71 individual points while Liu had a strong meet as well, accumulating 65 points herself with second place finishes in duet and trio along with her first place team event performance.

Stanford is back in action in two weeks, hosting the USA Artistic Swimming Western Regionals on Saturday, March 1 before welcoming Ohio State for a dual meet on Sunday, March 2 for its final tune up leading into the USA Artistic Swimming National Championships.
