STANFORD, Calif. – Redshirt freshman Tyler Knox has been voted the ACC Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced today.
Knox went 3-0 on the week, outscoring his opponents, 33-1. His win on Thursday at Princeton was crucial as the Cardinal had to come-from-behind to defeat the Tigers. The following night in Raleigh, Knox registered a 9-1 major decision over two-time All-American and ACC Champion No. 13 Kai Orine of NC State.
Knox closed out the week with a dominating 17-0 technical fall against Duke's Raymond Adams as Stanford scored a season-high 37 points against the Blue Devils. He improved to 22-3 overall and 13-1 in duals this season- leading the Cardinal in wins and dual points.
It is the first weekly honor for Knox, who moves up to No. 6 in the InterMat rankings, and the third of the season for Stanford.
The Cardinal closes out its dual schedule on Friday, hosting No. 16 North Carolina in Maples Pavilion. Wrestling gets underway at 7 p.m. on ACCNX.
