STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 20 Cardinal completed another perfect weekend, winning a seventh-straight game in run-rule fashion to move to 9-0 on the season. The 13-5 win over UC Davis in five innings capped a 5-0 weekend with 58 combined runs scored and 15 home runs.

Stanford jumped out to an early lead, plating five in the first. Allie Clements hit her team-leading fifth double of the season to drive in two, then raced home to score on an error two pitches later. Jade Berry doubled in two more just two batters later, making it a 5-0 lead after one inning.

UC Davis answered in the top of the third, plating five to tie the game and end Alyssa Houston’s season-opening scoreless inning streak at 12.2.

Stanford kept the streak going of not allowing opponents a shutdown inning this season. The bats responded immediately with a five-run third inning to retake the lead at 10-5. Joie Economides doubled in a pair of runs, then came around to score on Berry’s first home run of the season just two batters later.

Kylie Chung delivered a shutdown inning in the top of the fourth, retiring the side in order. Then in the fifth. Chung picked up her third win of the season behind two scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit and striking out two.

The Card ended things early for the seventh-straight game, thanks to a walk-off three-run double from Mahler in the fifth. The bases load hit cleared the bases and made it a 13-5 final.

The Cardinal hits the road for the next two weekends, starting with the Hillenbrand Invitational at Arizona on Thursday.
