WACO, Texas – No. 11 Stanford men’s tennis continues its strong start to the ITA Indoor National Championships, shutting out No. 21 UCF, 4-0, at Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center. Stanford improves to 7-1 this season, including four ranked wins.
Stanford has advanced to the ITA Indoor National Championships semifinals for the first time since 2018, when it defeated Baylor and Georgia to reach the event’s final four. The 2025 event started with a 4-1 win over No. 6 Columbia on Friday.
Opening the match with wins on two of three doubles courts, Stanford took an early 1-0 lead. Nico Godsick and Henry von der Schulenburg applied early pressure with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles, but the Knights (10-2) responded with a win on court one. Samir Banerjee and Alex Razeghi scored a 7-5 win on court two to secure the one-point advantage.
The Cardinal rackets were unflappable in singles, with Stanford taking five first sets. Razeghi continued his strong start to his freshman campaign, earning a 6-1, 6-1 win on court six, while Basing extended the Stanford lead to 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles. Needing one match to clinch, von der Schulenburg delivered a 6-3, 6-2 result on court four to end the match.
Stanford is looking for its first championship appearance at ITA Indoors since 2002, when it defeated Illinois for the title, 4-3, in Lexington, Kentucky. Stanford will face No. 1 TCU in a rematch of January’s matchup – both of those matches taking place at SMU’s Altec Tennis Complex. The first serves are set for 4:30 p.m. PT on Monday, Feb. 17.
