STANFORD, Calif. — A trio of Cardinal field hockey student-athletes have earned one of the nation’s highest academic honors in the sport, as Daisy Ford, Anya Jackson and Esther Pottebaum have etched their names as NFHCA Scholars of Distinction as announced by the organization on Friday.
One of the hardest academic honors to earn, athletes are acknowledged for their exceptional work in the classroom as noted by keeping a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher during the fall semester.
Ford earns the honor for the second consecutive year as she pursues her degree in Spanish. On the field, Ford appeared in 17 games while amassing a .770 save percentage and .186 goals-against average en route to eight wins and two shutouts. Ford was also named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad and is a 2024 member of the ACC All-Academic Team.
In her first season on The Farm, Jackson earned the honor for her academic excellence in her first semester. On the field, Jackson made three appearances totalling 51 minutes while earning a .692 save percentage in her limited time in goal. Jackson was also named as one of Stanford’s 21 members of the NFHCA National Academic Squad.
Pottebaum earns her first nod as a Scholar of Distinction after consecutive appearances on the NFHCA National Academic Squad. Pottebaum had a strong showing on the field in her sophomore season, appearing in 17 games while recording two assists, both of which coming in the ACC Tournament against Boston College. Pottebaum was also named to the ACC All-Academic Team earlier this week.
Stanford awaits the remainder of the NFHCA academic awards as the organization will release its National Academic Team and National Scholar-Athlete awards on February 18 and 20, respectively.
