STANFORD, Calif. – Outside hitter Elia Rubin has been named the ACC Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year, sharing the honor with Pittsburgh’s Rachel Fairbanks, the conference announced today.
Joining Rubin on the ACC All-Academic Team are fifth year Elena Oglivie, seniors Taylor Beaven and Sami Francis, junior Anna Pringle, sophomores Jordyn Harvey and Koko Kirsch, redshirt freshman Ipar Kurt and freshmen Lizzy Andrew, Malyssa Cawa and Taylor Yu.
A junior from Santa Monica, Rubin is majoring in science, technology and society at Stanford. She is a two-time academic all-conference selection (2023, 2024), a two-time CSC Academic All-District pick (2023, 2024) and was a 2024 CSC Second-Team Academic All-American.
Rubin closed out the 2024 season with 440 kills (3.93 kps), 34 service aces, 283 digs (2.527 dps) and 68 total blocks to lead the Cardinal offense. She was named to the 2024 AVCA Player of the Year Watch List, was a member of the All-ACC first team and a First Team AVCA All-American.
Rubin is the sixth Cardinal to earn conference scholar-athlete of the year honors in the past seven years, following Tami Alade (2018), Morgan Hentz (2019), Meghan McClure (2020), Holly Campbell (2021) and Caitie Baird (2023), and the eighth Cardinal overall.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September of 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0-grade point average for their careers, as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
