STANFORD, Calif. — Stanford continues its road stretch this weekend, traveling to Columbus, Ohio for the annual Jessica Beck Invitational hosted by Ohio State University on February 2.
The Cardinal heads in to Saturday’s meet having taken a top finish in the team event last weekend against Wheaton College (Ma.), with the group of Elisa Brunel, Yujin Chang, Haley Chu, Emily Ding, Cambell McMillan, Atira O’Neil and Manu Pindi recording a total routine score of 190.4, clearing Wheaton by 44 points. Brunel and Rau also combined to take second place in the duet for Stanford as the Cardinal elected not to compete in the solo or trio events.
Having only brought seven athletes to the Northeast against Wheaton, the Cardinal boasts a full squad heading into the weekend, including those who were part of the season opening win against reigning collegiate champions Incarnate Word two weeks ago.
Stanford took top overall honors at the 2024 installment of the memorial meet in the Buckeye State, claiming event titles in the duet, trio and team competitions to down then-collegiate champions Ohio State. The Cardinal returns all but one member of last season’s meet champion squad including 13 athletes that placed inside the top two in the three event groups.
The Cardinal faces Ohio State as well as recent competitors, Wheaton College, this weekend in what is a final tune-up for MPSF Championships which are slated to take place on Feb. 15-16 in Norton, Mass.
