Cardinal's Incoming Class Includes Three McDonald's All Americans

Stanford leads the nation with three selections in Eschmeyer, Somfai and Swain

STANFORD, Calif. – Incoming freshmen Alex Eschmeyer, Lara Somfai and Hailee Swain will participate in the 2025 McDonald’s All American Game on April 1 in Brooklyn.

Somfai and Swain landed on the 12-member East Team, while Eschmeyer will suit up for the West. Of the 24 women selected to be McDonald’s All Americans, Stanford and Tennessee have the most players suiting up next fall with three commits each. The girls’ game begins at 3:30 p.m. PT and will be televised live on ESPN2.

Eschmeyer, Somfai and Swain will add their names to an exclusive list of 30 Cardinal women’s basketball signees to be featured in the nation’s premier high school basketball all-star event. Stanford’s three McDonald’s All Americans are almost as many as the rest of the ACC combined (4).

This season the fourth time Stanford has had three McDonald’s All Americans in the same class, along with 2019 (Fran Belibi, Haley Jones, Ashten Prechtel), 2016 (DiJonai Carrington, Nadia Fingall, Anna Wilson) and 2007 (Ashley Cimino, Kayla Pedersen, Jeanette Pohlen).

Stanford’s incoming class, which also includes four-star talents Nora Ezike and Carly Amborn, is ranked third nationally by espnW HoopGurlz.
