Landry and Roberts' Event Titles Lead No. 15 Cardinal Past No. 25 Panthers

Landry's first collegiate beam title and Roberts' second consecutive bars and all-around titles boost Stanford past Pitt 196.175-194.550

PITTSBURGH – Led by junior Anna Roberts’ second consecutive bars and all-around titles and sophomore Temple Landry’s first-ever collegiate event title, No. 15 Stanford topped No. 25 Pitt 196.175-194.550.  

Stanford moves to 2-0 in ACC competition and 5-0 overall. The Cardinal’s 196.175 is its second-best team total of the year and the best team total put up by a visiting team (in regular-season competition) in Fitzgerald Field House since Feb. 25, 2024. 

The Cardinal started the meet with a 49.025 on bars, highlighted by a title-winning 9.875 from Roberts and a season-best 9.850 from Ava Sorrento. Anapaula Gutierrez kicked off the rotation with a 9.750, followed by a career-best routine from freshman Kendra Chang of 9.800. Junior Claire Dean entered the bars lineup for the first time this season, posting the final scoring routine for the Cardinal of a 9.750. 

After one rotation, the Cardinal led the Panthers by .100, 49.025-48.925. 

Stanford continued on vault, expanding its lead to .325 points with a 48.850 team score. Gutierrez led all Cardinal on vault with a 9.825 while Roberts added a 9.800, junior Taralyn Nguyen posted a 9.775, freshman Alana Walker scored a 9.750 and Neault rounded out the Stanford scoring routines with a 9.700.

Halfway through the meet, Stanford led 97.875- 96.925.

The Cardinal secured the meet with a stellar floor rotation, posting a team total of 49.125 led by Walker’s score of 9.850 in the fifth spot. Roberts, Neault and Robinson each added scores of 9.825, and Dean opened the rotation with a 9.800.

Three rotations in, the Cardinal led 147.000-145.550. 

Stanford finished the meet with its best rotation, totaling a 49.175 on beam led by Landry’s career-best 9.900 in the second spot. The Maple Grove, Minn. native earned the only 9.900 score of the entire meet for either team. Junior Ashley Carter made her debut on beam in 2025 with a 9.800, Neault posted a 9.850 in the fifth spot and Robinson anchored with a 9.875. Dean rounded out the scoring routines with her leadoff score of 9.750.

The Cardinal competes in its second meet within seven days Friday, Jan. 31, hosting North Carolina for an ACC dual meet in Maples Pavilion. The meet is slated for a 7 pm start and will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
