Stanford hosts defending national champion Incarnate Word on Saturday

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford opens its 2025 campaign on Saturday, Jan. 18, hosting defending national champion Incarnate Word at 12 p.m. at Belardi Pool inside Avery Aquatic Center.

The Cardinal is seeking its first national title since 2021, having produced three straight runner-up finishes at the USA Artistic Swimming Collegiate National Championship.

Stanford also delivered an individual national championship in 2024, capturing the team event title. All eight members of that title-winning squad return in 2025: Miko Begossi, Elisa Brunel, Ivy Davis, Yara Elian, Nicole Goot, Ella Rau, Lindi Schroeder and Emmanuella Tchakmakjian. The Cardinal also won the team title event in 2023.

Stanford also features promising young talent, as freshmen Megumi Field and Audrey Kwon helped lead the United States to a silver medal in the team acrobatic routine at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Another freshman, Calista Liu, was an alternate for the squad. Cardinal head coach Megan Abarca, now in her seventh season on The Farm, served as an assistant coach in Paris.

Saturday’s matchup against Incarnate Word represents the first of three home meets for the Cardinal, which also hosts the Western Regionals on March 1 before welcoming Ohio State for a dual on March 2.

The MPSF Championships are slated for Feb. 15-16 in Wheaton, Massachusetts, where Stanford will be attempting to win its fourth straight conference crown. Since the MPSF began sponsoring artistic swimming in 2022, the Cardinal has been the only conference champion.

The 2025 USA Artistic Swimming Collegiate National Championship is March 28-29 in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
