GOING INTO THE Wild Card Round, Stanford had more alums in the NFL playoffs than any other Atlantic Coast Conference program. Stanford led the way with 17 former players on playoff rosters, followed by Pitt and Clemson with 16 each, Florida State with 13 and Miami with 12.
Now, going into the Divisional Round, Stanford has 10 players on rosters of advancing teams. Last year, Stanford had five at this point.
Here is a summary of how former Cardinal fared in the Wild Card Round of the NFL playoffs:
Los Angeles Rams kicker Joshua Karty scored nine points in a 27-9 victory over Minnesota in Glendale, Arizona, on Monday night. Karty was perfect while making field goals of 34 and 44 yards and kicking three extra points. Karty has made his past 15 field-goal tries and 16 consecutive kicks altogether. Including regular season and playoffs, Karty has made 86 percent of his field-goal tries (31 of 36).
Rams starting tight end Colby Parkinson had two catches for 13 yards. He played 33 offensive snaps and eight on special teams. Minnesota starting nose tackle Harrison Phillips had one tackle while playing 29 defensive snaps.
Houston starting tight end Dalton Schultz caught two passes for 23 yards in the Texans’ 32-12 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday. Both receptions came on the same first-quarter drive. Schultz played 53 offensive snaps.
L.A. receiver Simi Fehoko returned to action for the first time since Week Nine after being placed on injured reserve. He played five offensive downs and 17 on special teams. Chargers’ tight end Tucker Fisk had one catch for 15 yards, resulting in a first down to prolong a drive that resulted in a first-quarter field goal and 3-0 L.A. lead. Fisk was in on 12 offensive plays and four on special teams. Chargers’ offensive tackle Foster Sarell played three downs on special teams.
Washington starting tight end Zach Ertz had two catches for 23 yards in the Commanders’ dramatic 23-20 victory at Tampa Bay on Sunday. Both of his catches – a nine-yarder in the first quarter and a 14-yarder on fourth down in the third quarter – resulted in first downs. His first reception helped along a touchdown drive and his second led to a situation in which the Commanders faced a fourth-and-goal from the 3 early in the fourth quarter. Ertz was targeted on the subsequent fourth-down pass, but was held by a defender with both hands in the end zone as the ball was in the air and the pass fell incomplete with no call.
