Stanford Shines on Day One

The Cardinal collect four NCAA "A" cut times and a new "Stanford Top-10" at Texas Swimming Invitational on Wednesday

AUSTIN, Texas - No. 4 Stanford was in midseason form on Wednesday evening, posting four NCAA "A" cut standards and a "Stanford Top-10" time on night one of the Texas Swimming Invitational. 

Leading off the night with the 200 free relay, Torri Huske, Gigi Johnson, Lucy Thomas, and Anna Shaw posted an NCAA "A" Standard time of 1:27.44 to finish second in the event. The Cardinal "B" group of Annika Parkhe, Jamie Brennan, Lillie Nordmann, and Amy Tang clocked a 1:29.96 to finish eighth. 

Aurora Roghair climbed the "Stanford Top-10" ranks in the 500 free, touching second in Thursday's final with a 4:31.63 "A" cut time to beat her previous best by over two seconds. Kayla Wilson finished sixth in the "A" final with a 4:38.82. 

Stanford saw four finish in the top eight of the 200 IM final, with Huske finishing second with a 1:52.89 for her second "A" standard cut time of the night. Caroline Bricker (1:54.17) and Lucy Bell (1:55.24) followed just behind in third and fourth, respectively, while Nordmann notched a 1:56.36 time for seventh. 

Huske continued her impressive night one with a share of the 50 free event title, tying Texas' Grace Cooper with a time of 21.81. Gigi Johnson finished 8th in the "A" final with a time of 22.51. 

The Cardinal closed out Wednesday's action with its' fourth and final "A" cut of the night, as the quartet of Levenia Sim, Thomas, Huske, and Nordmann notched a 3:29.39 in the 400 medley relay to finish third. 

Stanford returns to the pool tomorrow morning with the 400 IM, 100 Fly. 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, 200 Medley Relay, and 800 Free Relay slated for day two.
