PHILADELPHIA – Stanford fencing finished the fall competition slate in Philadelphia today, participating in the Elite Invitational against five top-10 teams. The men’s side finished 2-3 on the day and posted the weekend’s highlight, upsetting No. 10 Duke 22-5.
Men’s foil beat No. 2 Notre Dame, led by Benjamin Shih going a perfect 3-0. The men’s team ended the day with a pair of wins, including the dominant victory over No. 10 Duke. In the win over the Blue Devils, Sanjay Kasi, Renzo Fukuda, Steven Yang and Jared Hammerstrom all went a perfect 3-0.
The men’s foil squad finished the day 3-2, moving to 8-2 on the season. Meghana Paturu led the way for the women’s team, ending the day 8-2 in individual bouts.
The Card will be back competing in February, heading to Evanston, Ill. for the Northwestern Duals from Feb. 1-2.
