STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford men’s cross country team was awarded an at-large berth Saturday into the NCAA Championships.
For the 31st consecutive season, both Stanford teams have advanced to NCAA’s, an ongoing record.
The Stanford women placed second at the NCAA West Regionals Saturday in Colfax, Washington, to gain an automatic berth.
The men, however, were third, finishing one spot from automatic qualifying, but were awarded one of 13 at-large spots for nationals, which is Saturday in Verona, Wisconsin. The Cardinal men are ranked No. 7 in the nation while the women are No. 12.
The Stanford women have advanced to NCAA’s for the 32nd consecutive season. They got a boost at regionals when sophomore Amy Bunnage made her season debut and won.
Saturday’s racing at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course starts at 7:20 a.m. PT with the women’s 6-kilometer (3.73-mile) race. The men start their 10K (6.21-mile) race at 8:10 a.m. PT.
