STANFORD, Calif. -- Cole Sprout and Paul Bergeron earned weekly cross country honors from the Atlantic Coast Conference after their performances at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals on Friday.
Sprout, a graduate student from Littleton, Colorado, was named ACC Men's Performer of the Week and Bergeron, from Westford, Massachusetts, was the Men's Freshman of the Week for the second time.
They helped Stanford earn third place among a field that included 19 teams ranked among the Top 30 by the USTFCCCA. Stanford entered the race No. 9 and this week moved up to No. 5.
Sprout placed ninth by covering the 8-kilometer (4.97-mile) Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in 23:04.0, to break Ky Robinson's 2022 Stanford course record of 23:09.9.
Bergeron placed 48th in 23:31.1 as Stanford's No. 5 runner. Sprout was the highest-placer among the five ACC teams to compete and Bergeron was the top conference freshman.
