STANFORD, Calif. – Outside hitters Ipar Kurt and Elia Rubin powered No. 5 Stanford past Boston College, 25-13, 25-13, 25-19, in its Pink Match, Saturday, at Maples Pavilion.
Stanford (13-2) improves to 5-1 in the ACC with its third consecutive sweep. The Cardinal out hit Boston College (8-10, 1-5 ACC) .367 to .078. Stanford finished with 41 kills, 41 digs, six aces and 8.0 blocks.
Kurt recorded a match-best 12 kills on a career-high .688 hitting. She had just one miscue in 16 attempts. The redshirt freshman also tallied a career-best three aces. Rubin turned in 11 kills on .308 hitting, nine digs, two blocks and an ace.
Setter Kami Miner controlled the Cardinal offense, posting 32 assists, six digs and a block. Libero Elena Oglivie posted a match-high 14 digs to go with three assists.
Opposite Jordyn Harvey had eight kills on a .467 attack percentage, a career-high five blocks and a pair of aces. Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew matched her career-high with five blocks and added five kills, while senior Sami Francis chipped in with five kills and three blocks.
Boston College was led by opposite Sam Hoppes’ nine kills on .429 hitting, while middle blocker Julia Haggerty had a match-best six blocks.
It was the first meeting between the two programs since 2005. Stanford is now 2-0 against the Eagles.
The Cardinal donned white and pink jerseys on Saturday in honor of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Fans submitted stories about how the disease has affected their or a loved ones lives and the program chose 15 names/phrases to print of the back of the players’ jerseys to honor those individuals.
Stanford hits the road next week, traveling to No. 15 SMU on Wednesday on ACC Network and No. 1 Pittsburgh on Sunday on ESPN.
