LONG BEACH, Calif. – The No. 2 Cardinal moved to a perfect 6-0 this afternoon with a 13-10 road win over No. 10 Long Beach State. Soren Jensen led the way with a hat trick, one of five Stanford scorers with multiple goals.
The Card was tied up with Long Beach at 3-3 after the first quarter, before edging ahead in the second to enter halftime with a 7-6 advantage. A 4-1 advantage in the third quarter built a cushion that held up for a 13-10 final.
CJ Indart, Ethan Parrish, Gavin West and Jackson Painter each added in a pair of goals for Stanford, while West Temkin had another strong performance in goal. The transfer from Princeton made 11 saves in the game to secure the win.
Painter, Riley Pittman and Ryan Ohl each dished out a pair of assists as well to balance the attack.
Parrish’s goal in the third quarter was his fourth of the season and 100th career score, joining Riley Pittman and Jackson Painter as the only current Stanford players to eclipse the century mark for career goals scored.
The Cardinal is back in the bay area for the MPSF Invitational next weekend, with four games played from Friday to Sunday. The tournament is hosted by California, with opponents and times still TBA.
