MALIBU, Calif. – No. 2 Stanford hit a season-high .417 as it defeated Pepperdine, 25-18, 22-25, 25-17, 25-21, Wednesday, at Firestone Fieldhouse.
Stanford (6-0) racked up a season-best 67 kills and tallied 61 digs, 7.0 blocks and five aces. Pepperdine (1-4) was held to .255 hitting and finished with 7.5 blocks and six aces.
Setter Kami Miner controlled the offense, posting a season-high 48 assists to go with 12 digs, four kills and a block. The senior has registered a double-double in all five matches she has appeared in this season. Libero Elena Oglivie also turned in a double-double with season-highs of 23 digs and 11 assists.
Opposite Jordyn Harvey registered a career-high 15 kills on 27 errorless swings to hit a career-best .556. The sophomore also recorded four aces, three blocks and two digs. Outside hitter Elia Rubin led all players with 20 kills on .318 hitting, six digs and two blocks.
Redshirt freshman Ipar Kurt posted a career-high 18 kills on a career-best .536 attack percentage. Middle blocker Sami Francis added seven kills on 16 errorless swings to hit .438 and had a team-high six blocks. Freshman Lizzy Andrew chipped in with three kills, a block and a dig.
Defensive specialist Anna Pringle earned the start on Wednesday and finished with a career-high eight digs, while senior Taylor Beaven added four digs and two assists. Freshman Taylor Yu had an ace off the bench.
Pepperdine was led by Grace Chillingworth’s 17 kills and three aces, while Birdie Hendrickson had 14 kills on .433 hitting, nine digs and two aces. The Cardinal is now 9-1 all-time against the Waves.
