PARIS - Three Cardinal reached the podium on night one of swimming competition in Paris, as Torri Huske, Katie Ledecky, and Simone Manuel added to the program medal count on Saturday.
Ledecky kicked off finals action with a bronze-medal effort in the 400 free, posting a 4:00.86 to finish third behind Australia's Ariarne Titmus and Canada's Summer McIntosh. It is Ledecky's 11th career Olympic medal and her third in the 400 free event.

In the 4x100 free relay, Huske and Manuel made up one-half of the new American record mark of 3:30:20 to finish second to Australia's freestyle quartet. Huske split a 52.06 in the third leg, while Manuel clocked a 52.61 on the anchor leg to chase down China for the silver medal.

Huske also competed in the 100 fly semifinals during the evening session in Paris, winning the second semifinal race with a 56.00 to finish second overall in the round and punch her ticket to tomorrow's event finals.
Ledecky will return to action with the 1500 free prelims on Tuesday, July 30, while Manuel waits until the 50 free prelims taking place on August 3.
