STANFORD, Calif. – For the seventh consecutive season, five Cardinal women's rowers have been named 2024 CRCA All-America Athletes, the College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced Friday.
Rowers Luise Bachmann, Belle Battistoni, Lettie Cabot, Iris Klok, and Carolyn Kennedy each earned first-team All-America honors. Stanford had five awardees on the first team for the third time in program history.
With Friday's announcement, Bachmann and Cabot become two-time All-America honorees, each awarded the honor for the first time in the 2023 season. Battistoni, Klok, and Kennedy were each honored for the first time.
Stanford women's rowing completed its 2024 season with a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships in Bethel, Ohio. The Cardinal captured three podium finishes, including a national championship title in the second varsity eight. The 2024 campaign included the program's third consecutive Pac-12 team title with a sweep of the regatta's races and its third straight sweep of the conference's end-of-year honors.
All five All-America selections rowed as part of Stanford's national runner-up varsity eight throughout the season. In May, Bachmann was named Pac-12 Athlete of the Year, becoming one of just two Stanford student-athletes to win the conference Athlete of the Year award before her senior season. The Cardinal's honorees also excel off the water as Bachmann, Battistoni and Cabot were each honored as Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar Athletes Thursday. Additionally, Battistoni became the Cardinal's fourth consecutive Pac-12 Women's Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year, awarded at the conference championships in May.
To meet the criteria for Pocock All-America selection, a student-athlete must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution while having rowed in at least 75 percent of the season's races in the varsity eight boat. Boat performance, nomination rank, coach's comments, individual achievements, and 2,000-meter erg scores are also considered.
