AUSTIN, Texas – Nishesh Basavareddy and Neel Rajesh have been named Academic All-Americans, as announced Wednesday by College Sports Communicators. Basavareddy was selected to the second team while Rajesh was a third team honoree.
Stanford has a men's tennis honoree for the fourth consecutive season, as Axel Geller was honored in 2021 and 2022 and Arthur Fery in 2023, while the two selections mark the most for the program in the award's history. Prior to the 2023 awards, men's tennis honorees were chosen in the at large category.
Basavaredddy, who will be named an ITA All-American for the second year in a row, was the Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year and a first team All-Pac-12 selection. The Carmel, Indiana native went 16-2 on the season with 11 ranked wins, and he advanced to the round of 16 at the NCAA singles championships. He ended the campaign as the No. 12 player in the country.
Rajesh earned his first career All-Pac-12 honor in 2024 with a second team selection after a breakout senior season. Hailing from Oyster Bay, New York, Rajesh went 16-4 in singles on the season with a 14-2 dual record, which included 12 consecutive victories from Feb. 2-May 4. Rajesh was ranked as high as No. 53 this season, and he ended the year at No. 113.
Stanford men's tennis closed the season ranked No. 17 as a team, going 19-7 overall with a 7-1 mark in the Pac-12. Stanford won its first Pac-12 Championship since 2021, and advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals on the road for the third consecutive season.
