Eight Cardinal Secure National Team Spots

FORT WORTH, Texas. - Stanford alum Brody Malone made his return to the top of the podium as he secured his third career U.S Championships all-around title on Saturday evening, headlining eight Cardinal named to the 2024 U.S. Senior National and Development teams following competition.

After a two-year hiatus from the event due to a knee injury, Malone paced the field by over two points in the all-around race across two days of competition, posting a 172.300 to claim the gold medal, marking his first national title since claiming back-to-back all-around crowns in 2021 and 2022. Michigan's Fred Richard finished second, while Stanford junior Khoi Young rounded out the podium with a third-place finish.

In addition to his all-around title, Malone also won the high bar event title with 14.900 and 14.600 routines over the weekend and a pommel horse silver medal after registering a two-routine score of 29.250.

Young was Stanford's next-highest finisher on the weekend, posting the highest combined vault score of the weekend with a 29.650, in addition to his all-around bronze medal. The Bowie, Md., native also placed second on the parallel bars.

Colt Walker finished ninth in the all-around race with a 166.800, headlined by a bronze medal on parallel bars, while Asher Hong earned his own event bronze on vault en route to a tenth-place finish in the all-around. Incoming Stanford recruits Kiran Mandava and Kai Uemura were also named to the initial Senior Development teams following their efforts this weekend, while Jeremy Bischoff and Curran Phillips were added to the team later in the evening via discretionary criteria.

Stanford closes the weekend with eight of the 20 national team selections, with all U.S. Senior National Team members earning bids to the 2024 Olympic Trials on June 27-30 in Minneapolis, Minnesota where they will compete for one of five Olympic team spots competing in Paris this summer.
