SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Cardinal completed the sweep of the PCCSC Championships over the weekend, taking first place in the Open Fleet Race. It was Stanford's 14th straight win in the open fleet race conference championship.
The win secured Stanford's place in the ICSA Open Fleet Race Championship later this month.
Stanford led from the jump, taking first in the opening race and never looked back. The Cardinal finished with 55 total points, well ahead of UC Santa Barbara in second place with 103 points.
In the A division, Reade Decker and Alexis Young sailed to a division best score of 21 points, more than double UCSB's 49 points.
The B boat was led by Luke Woodworth and Shay Wood who also took first overall with 34 points ahead of USC's 50 for second place.
Stanford claimed 14 total first place finishes among the 24 races and only finished outside the top four on two occasions.
The Cardinal returns to action with the first of four national championship opportunities this weekend. Nationals begin with the ICSA Open Team Race Championship on Thursday April 25, and the Women's Team Race Championship on Sunday, April 28.
