STANFORD, Calif. - No. 5 Stanford fell to No. 12 UCLA this afternoon 2-0, falling to 36-10 on the season and 13-5 in the Pac-12. Sophomore pitcher NiJaree Canady was sharp in the loss, striking out eight in seven innings.
Canady kept the Cardinal in the game until the seventh inning, when a two-run shot to centerfield was the only scoring play of the game.
Sophomore Emily Jones extended her hitting streak to 15 games, the longest by a Stanford player since Leah White posted a 16-game streak in 2012.
Sophomore Taryn Kern went 1-for-1 on the afternoon, walking twice to reach base safely in all three at bats.
The Cardinal is back on Wednesday, heading to Moraga to take on Saint Mary's at 3:00 p.m. PT.
