STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 9 Cardinal shut out Pacific this afternoon, winning 8-0 in five innings to extend the team's winning streak to nine games and move to 14-4 on the season. Freshman Alyssa Houston tossed five shutout innings, allowing just one hit to earn the win.
The Card got going quickly, with sophomore Taryn Kern hitting her first home run of the season to lead off the game. Freshman Jade Berry added another in the second, tripling to score senior Ellee Eck and make it 2-0.
Another long ball kept it going in the third inning, with senior Aly Kaneshiro hitting her fifth home run of the year to plate three and make it 5-0.
Three runs came across in the the fifth to end the game, with junior Johnna Schroeder and Houston driving in runs before Kaitlyn Lim stepped into the box. The fifth-year senior doubled off the wall, scoring Berry to make it 8-0 and walk off the game.
Stanford is back in action on Friday with a doubleheader against Nevada at 3:00 p.m. PT, followed by LMU at 5:30 p.m. PT.
