STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford topped LMU today 1-0, notching the team's 13th-straight win to move to 18-4 on the season. Sophomore pitcher NiJaree Canady earned the win in relief of Krause, her eighth win of the season. Sophomore Taryn Kern was the hero offensively, with a clutch RBI to break through for the Card.
Senior Regan Krause started in the circle, throwing two scoreless innings to open the game before giving way to Canady in the third inning. Canady went on to strike out the next six batters, finishing the day with only one hit allowed in five innings pitched while striking out 10.
Kern's RBI double in the fifth proved to be enough to secure the win, scoring Kaitlyn Lim to give the Cardinal the 1-0 edge.
The Cardinal is back at home next week, with a midweek doubleheader against Sacramento State on Wednesday. Stanford then opens Pac-12 play with a series at Cal, beginning on Friday.
