Strong Showing Against the Sun Devils

STANFORD, Calif. – Aurora Roghair continued her freestyle success with a pair of event titles while the freshman tandem of Lucy Thomas and Caroline Bricker each posted "Stanford Top-10" times to lead the Cardinal women's swimming and diving team to ranked victory over No. 19 Arizona State, 191.5-98.5.

Roghair posted the nation's fastest 1000 freestyle time of the season with a 9:29.24 to win her first race of the night, then clocked a 4:39.94 to claim the 500 free crown. Roghair also finished second in the 200 free, finishing just behind teammate Kayla Wilson who touched first with a 1:43.64.

Thomas improved upon her career best with a 58.93 in the 100 breast to climb the Stanford ranks, while Bricker trailed just behind with a 59.39 to give herself a Stanford Top-10 time in a third event on the season. It was the second time a Stanford pair has entered the all-time Cardinal ranks in the same race, as Bricker and Lucy Bell each posted Top-10 marks in the 400 IM at the Texas Invitational. Bricker also earned the 200 breast event title with a mark of 2:08.26.

Natalie Mannion and Amy Tang rounded out Stanford's multiple event winners on the evening, with Mannion sweeping both backstroke events, while Tang earned wins in both a 50 free and 100 free in her first action of the season.

Lucy Bell earned the race win in the 200 IM with a season-best 1:55.67 and Gigi Johnson posted a 52.42 time to take the 100 fly crown, leaving the 200 fly as the only individual event that was not paced by the Cardinal.

Stanford also swept both relay events, with the "A" group of Mannion, Thomas, Lillie Nordmann, and Tang leading the field in the 200 medley relay with a 1:36.58. In the 400 free relay, the Cardinal finished 1-2 with the "B" squad of Tang, Wilson, Thomas, and Janelle Rudolph taking the win with a 3:15.34.

On the diving boards, Emilie Moore claimed the win in the 3-meter dive with a score of 299.55, while Lauren Burch was victorious in the 1-meter dive with a 298.43.

Stanford returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 11:30 a.m. PT as they host Arizona. The meet will act as the program's Senior Day, as the Cardinal celebrates the career of its lone senior, Janelle Rudolph.
