Stanford Defeats Washington in Four

STANFORD, Calif. – Led by Sami Francis and Kendall Kipp, No. 5 Stanford posted a 25-23, 23-25, 25-11, 25-19 win over Washington, Sunday, at Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (20-3, 13-1 Pac-12), which has reached 20 wins for the 41st time in program history, hit .342 as a team and racked up 66 digs, nine aces and 8.0 blocks. Washington (14-11, 5-9 Pac-12) was held to .212 hitting and totaled 61 digs, seven aces and 4.0 blocks.

Francis hit .520 with a season-high 15 kills on 25 swings with just two miscues. The middle blocker also tallied four blocks, including two solo. Kipp also had a match-high 15 kills to go with 10 digs, five aces and two blocks for her third double-double of the season.
 


Setter Kami Miner controlled the offense with 46 assists and tallied 11 digs for her ninth double-double of the year. She also hit .625 with five kills on eight errorless attempts. Libero Elena Oglivie anchored the defense with a match-high 24 digs. The senior also registered an ace and matched her career-high with nine assists.
 


Stanford won its fourth straight over Washington. The Cardinal hit .593 in the third set, notching 16 kills on 27 swings with no errors. In the fourth, Stanford sided out at a rate of 75 percent to hold off the Huskies.

Outside hitter Elia Rubin turned in 14 kills, nine digs and two blocks, while outside hitter Caitie Baird chipped in with eight kills, two aces, three assists, a block and a season-high 12 digs.
 


Middle blocker McKenna Vicini hit. 455, totaling six kills and three blocks. Freshman Jordyn Harvey started the second set at opposite and registered her first collegiate ace.

Washington was led by May Pertofsky's 12 kills on .345 hitting, while outside hitter Kierstyn Barton added a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs.

Stanford remains on The Farm next week, playing host to No. 7 Oregon on Thursday at 6 p.m. and Oregon State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
