- Making its 15th consecutive NCAA Tournament, and third super regional in four seasons, Stanford men's tennis continues its quest for its 18th title this weekend at No. 4 Kentucky in the Sweet 16.
- The Cardinal is 16-10 (4-4 Pac-12) this spring, including two wins at the ITA Kickoff Weekend over Georgia Tech and Texas A&M Jan. 29-30, a win over Florida in Orlando, 4-1, and a shutout over Wake Forest at ITA Indoors, 4-0. The Cardinal downed Arizona (4-3) and Arizona State (4-1) to open the conference slate and added wins over UCLA (4-2) and California (4-3). Stanford dispatched St. John's (4-0) and No. 13 Columbia (4-2) in the regional round.
- Stanford was heavily represented in the Pac-12's end-of-season awards, as Arthur Fery was named the Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year and Samir Banerjee was chosen as the Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Year. Fery and Banerjee were joined by Max Basing on the first team, while Nishesh Basavareddy was added to the second team.
- The Cardinal has four singles players ranked this week, while the team slots in at No. 21. Arthur Fery is ranked third, and is joined by Nishesh Basavareddy (No. 15), Max Basing (No. 33) and Samir Banerjee (No. 56). Additionally, the doubles tandem of Basavareddy and Fery is ranked No. 20. All four singles players and the doubles pair were chosen to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Tournament this month, with Stanford one of two schools nationally with at least four players in the singles draw.
- Stanford is 10-3 all-time against Kentucky, with the last meeting coming in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The Cardinal is 2-0 all-time against the Wildcats in the NCAA Tournament, also posting a win in 1988 in the quarterfinals en route to a national title.
- Fery returns for his junior campaign after taking the fall off from collegiate tennis to play in professional tournaments. An All-American last season, Fery was ranked as high as No. 1 in the country in singles and No. 6 in doubles, going 24-8 in singles and 26-10 in doubles overall. Fery is currently a top-500 singles player in the world, and picked up M25 professional wins this fall in singles in Sheffield, Nottingham and Malibu and in doubles in Sunderland. Fery has 17 wins at No. 1 singles this year, and beat the former No. 1 national player in straight sets (Ethan Quinn, Georgia - 7-6 (8), 6-3) in Orlando. 10 of his 17 wins have come against ranked foes, including three over players currently in the top eight.
- Basavareddy is 23-7 on the season after winning the ITA Fall National Championship, the ITA Northwest Super Regional and the consolation bracket at the ITA All-American Championships. Basavareddy has tallied an 11-4 record against nationally ranked opponents and a 5-2 mark against Pac-12 foes.
- Basing is 16-8 on the season, after an 18-2 dual record as a freshman, with eight victories coming over ranked opponents and an 11-6 mark in dual action. The sophomore beat four straight ranked opponents at the ITA All-American Championships to advance to the tournament's semifinal round.
- Samir Banerjee ranks second on the team with 14 dual wins, and is one of six players with at least 10 singles wins this year. Seven players have at least five dual wins this year, also including Neel Rajesh (12), Filip Kolasinski (seven) and Aryan Chaudhary (seven).
- Stanford is 13-4 in outdoor matches this season.
- The Cardinal is looking for its 18th NCAA Championship and the first since 2000.
- Stanford went 19-6 last season, including a perfect 10-0 record at Taube Family Tennis Center. Stanford earned a bid to its 14th consecutive NCAA Tournament, traveling to 14th seeded Harvard for a pair of victories to advance to the Super Regional.
- Paul Goldstein is in his ninth season as the Taube Family Director of Men's Tennis. Goldstein’s teams have posted a 145-65 record with a national ranking and a berth in the NCAA Championships in each of his seasons at the helm.
