STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Michael Thorbjornsen is tied for the lead following 36 holes of the Pac-12 Championships on Friday at Stanford Golf Course. As a team, Stanford men's golf is in fifth with 36 holes remaining over the next two days.

Thorbjornsen sits at 11-under 129 after two rounds, tied with Arizona State's Preston Summerhays. The Wellesley, Mass. native shot rounds of 63 and 66, his 7-under 63 marking his best round of the season. Over 36 holes of play, Thorbjornsen tallied 23 pars and 12 birdies, which ranked second in the field. He was 5-under on the Par 4s, 4-under on the Par 5s and 2-under on the Par 3s.

As a team, the Cardinal was even (350) in the first round and improved with a 9-under 341 in the afternoon round. The nine-stroke improvement helped them move one spot up the leaderboard. Five of Stanford's six golfers improved from round one to round two, with the Cardinal not counting worse than even-par in the play-six, count-five format.

Over 36 holes, the Cardinal totaled four eagles, tied for the most in the field. Ethan Ng posted eagles on No. 1 in the first round and No. 16 in the second round, Karl Vilips had a first-round eagle on No. 7 and Barclay Brown had an eagle on No. 7 in the second round.

Stanford will begin its third round at 10 a.m. Saturday off the first hole with Oregon and Washington State.
