Card Posts Second Straight Shutout

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Finishing an unblemished weekend in the America East, Stanford field hockey picked up a 3-0 win over Bryant on Sunday on Brown's campus. Stanford earns its second-straight shutout and improves to 5-6 this season and 3-2 in conference play.

Haley Mossmer scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the first half, and her second-straight game-winning goal, while Scout Butler scored her first-career goal and Isabelle Pilson added her second tally of the season, assisted by Molly Redgrove. For the second-straight outing Kendall Dowd and Daisy Ford shared the shutout, making two saves apiece.

"Today was a test of our physical and mental game," said head coach Roz Ellis. "I loved giving the team the responsibility to put themselves in a place for success. They battled three games in five days, we came out 2-1 and notched two more conference wins."

Stanford outshot the Bulldogs, 18-6, and put 11 shots on goal. Mossmer opened the scoring at the 15-minute mark, closing the first quarter on a redirected shot coming from a penalty corner. The Cardinal left for the intermission with a 1-0 lead.

Butler opened her collegiate account in the third quarter, scoring at the 42-minute mark with a reverse shot to the far corner after her first attempt was blocked. Pilson looped a redirected shot over the goalkeeper in the fourth quarter to extend the advantage to 3-0, with Redgrove providing the assist.

After six straight games away from home, Stanford will host rival California on Friday, Oct. 14 on the Varsity Turf. Stanford will honor its graduating class before the game for Senior Day, with the 6 p.m. start being broadcast on Pac-12 Network.
