STANFORD, Calif. - Playing its first home game of the season, No. 4 Stanford burst out early against No. 9 Pepperdine and maintained the lead throughout, defeating the Waves 15-8 on Saturday afternoon.

Ethan Parrish gave the Cardinal early momentum, scoring the game's first two goals. Stanford responded to Pepperdine's first score with two more goals from Jackson Painter and Beck Jurasius to earn a 4-1 lead after the first quarter.

The Waves cut down Stanford's lead to three heading into halftime at 8-5, with Parrish owning half of the Cardinal's goals. Pepperdine closed to within 8-6, but a power play and another rocket from Painter gave Stanford breathing room and momentum it would carry into the final period.

There, Stanford, scored four straight to put the game out of reach, finishing with seven different goal scorers on the day. Painter's five goals mark a career high, as were Parrish's four.
