  • No. 2 Stanford competes for its first team national championship since 2009 as it takes on the nation's best at the 2022 NCAA Women's Rowing Championships, hosted by UCF at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla. Friday through Sunday.

          • Notes: The Cardinal has already met and topped Oregon State (Pac-12 Championships) and Ohio State (Big Ten Invite) this season.
      • 7:24 a.m.- Second Varsity Eight (Heat 4)
        • Competitors: RV Rhode Island, No. 13 Syracuse, No. 3 Brown, No. 5 Princeton, Jacksonville
          • Notes: Stanford topped No. 3 Brown at the Big Ten Invite by six seconds. 
      • 7:48 a.m.- Varsity Four (Heat 2)
        • Competitors: RV Northeastern, No. 9 Virginia, No. 8 Michigan, No. 16 Rutgers
          • Notes: The Cardinal has raced against both No. 8 Michigan and No. 9 Virginia in the Varsity Four race at the Big Ten Invite. Michigan finished first with a time of 7:05.430, followed by Stanford (7:09.073) and Virginia (7:18.900 (fourth place)). Stanford also met Rutgers in Sarasota, topping the Scarlet Knights by more than 18 seconds.

  • The Cardinal enters the national championship regatta with three top-five seeds, earning the No. 3 seed in the Varsity Eight race, the No. 4 seed in the Second Varsity Eight race, and the No. 2 seed in the Varsity Four race.
  • Stanford comes off its first conference title since 2014 and just the program's second-ever Pac-12 Championship victory. The Cardinal earned the top finishes in the Novice Eight (non-scoring), Third Varsity Eight, Varsity Eight, and Varsity Four races while finishing second in the Second Varsity Eight competition. Senior coxswain Nicole Pofcher was named the 2022 Pac-12 Women's Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year after the regatta.
  • The Cardinal swept the end-of-year awards from the Pac-12, led by Azja Czajkowski's Athlete of the Year honor. Iris Klok was named the Pac-12 Women's Rowing Newcomer of the Year, while head coach Derek Byrnes was selected as the conference's coach of the year. Czajkowski, Esther Briz ZamoranoKatelin Gildersleeve, and Caroline Ricksen earned All-Pac-12 accolades for their strong performances this season.
  • Grace McGinley was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 At-Large Team Tuesday, May 19. The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and the classroom. 
  • The Cardinal has raced at the site of the 2022 NCAA Rowing Championships once already this season. While at Nathan Benderson Park for the Big Ten Invitational April 15-16, Stanford won all but three races entered throughout the weekend and secured wins in multiple races over four top-10 programs.
  • Stanford women's rowing dominated the waters at the Pac-12 Invitational in Henderson, Nev., April 9-10, winning all the events the program competed in. Saturday saw the Cardinal race against USC, SMU, and Penn, winning each effort by five seconds or more. Stanford also met Clemson in the 2V4 battle, finishing before the Tigers and USC by 18 or more seconds. Stanford took on RV UCLA, RV Clemson, and RV Iowa on Sunday, earning even more decisive victories on the final day of competition. In each of the four Sunday races the Cardinal entered, Stanford crossed the finish line ahead of its competitors by at least 11 seconds.
